Drake is one of the biggest celebrity basketball fans in the world today. ‘The 6 God’ is often spotted at basketball games sitting courtside and even links up with several NBA stars on a regular basis.

Drake is the most popular musician in the world. And the fact that he shares a friendship with several NBA stars is not at all surprising. After all, music and basketball have shared a long-standing relationship.

And one can make the case that Drake has done a lot to further the relationship between hip hop and basketball. Drake grew up in Toronto, Canada. And was an avid basketball fan from a young age. He is a huge supporter of his hometown Toronto Raptors and was present and vocal during their 2019 NBA championship run.

Drizzy recently revealed that Kawhi Leonard, who won a chip for the Raptors, misses the franchise and the city of Toronto. The two linked up recently when Leonard was featured in Drake’s ‘Way 2 Sexy’ music video, off of his album ‘Certified Lover Boy’.

And after the pandemic, and almost 2 years away from Toronto, the Raptors returned to play in their home. Despite it being a preseason affair, Drake pulled up to the game and even joined the commentary team during the game.

He praised the commentators and was grateful that they and the team were back after almost 2 seasons away from the city. On top of that, he got to call an incredible half-court buzzer-beater for the Raptors too, screaming “CASH MONEY!”.

The Raptors entered the 2020 NBA Bubble in Orlando to finish the 2019-20 season. And for the 2020-21 NBA season, they had to play in Tampa Bay, because Canada’s strict COVID-19 protocol would have made it impossible for them to play games at home without disrupting the schedule.

With the Raptors back in Toronto, expect to see Drake courtside more often. While the Raptors are no longer championship contenders, Drake still remains a diehard fan and will be there to support his team.
