Draymond Green is one of the most controversial players in the NBA. The enforcer for the Golden State Warriors is no stranger to stirring the pot and causing debates among NBA fans and players with his statements. And his latest comments are not bound to go down well among his fellow NBA players.

During an appearance on Patrick Beverley’s podcast, Draymond Green noted that most players in the NBA do not have basketball IQ, let alone decent basketball IQ. He added that basketball IQ is the most fundamental trait any player in the league must have to find success in the NBA.

“Not only do I not think there’s not many guys that have that next level basketball IQ, there’s not many guys that have a basketball IQ in the NBA. You’re talking less than 60% of the NBA… Really generous. They don’t have an IQ…”

“Knowing the game of basketball in this league is one of the biggest skills you can have because it separates you immediately. Maybe not as extreme as like Steph Curry’s jump shot separates him, but just having a basketball IQ in this league immediately gives you a leg up because guys don’t understand the game.”

Green’s comments seem to be targeting some of the younger players in the league, who have developed their game based on the modern NBA’s requirements, which calls on players to be skilled shooters and finesse players rather than making the right play and knowing where to be on the court at all times.

Draymond Green Did Not Hold Back At All

The comments about basketball IQ were far from the only controversial remarks from Draymond Green. On the same podcast, Green addressed the incident that took place between himself and former Warriors star Jordan Poole, specifically regarding the punch itself.

Green’s comments provoked a response from several people within Poole’s inner circle, including his father, who called him soft. Whereas Poole’s friend cited weird energy from Draymond when it came to Jordan Poole.

Green and the Warriors will welcome new teammate Chris Paul soon. Green, who has noted his issues in the past with CP3, spoke about looking forward to putting those issues to bed when he speaks to him soon.
