Draymond Green Destroyed A Fan Who Claimed He’s Earned Enough: “This Team Is Worth 8 Billion Dollars. It Was Bought Eight Months Before I Arrived For 500 M.”

A fan told Draymond Green he might have made enough money, and Green destroyed him by pointing out how much the value of the Warriors franchise has gone up since he joined.

Draymond Green has been part of building a dynasty with the Golden State Warriors, although his numbers haven’t always been spectacular. The team always being stacked means Green hasn’t made the money he might have hoped for, either.

Draymond Green was incredibly critical of the new collective bargaining agreement, claiming that the players lost. And when he responded with some confused emojis about whether the players won anything in the latest deal, a fan tried to go at him about his earnings: “Pretty sure you won enough already.”

And while it’s true that Green has made upwards of $100 million in salary during his time in the NBA, Draymond was quick to point out why that’s still not enough. He wrote, “Brother this team is worth 8 billion dollars. It was bought 8 months before I arrived for 500mm. Pretty sure my wins are warranted. Possibly should’ve made more. NEXT!”

The ownership group led by Joe Lacob, which won the bid to buy the Golden State Warriors in 2010, paid $450 million for the franchise. In 2022, when the team won its 4th championship in 8 seasons, its value was reported to be $7.5 billion, the highest in the NBA.

The success the Warriors have enjoyed has played a huge part in increasing the value of the team itself. Over the years, teams in the NBA have become exponentially more valuable, while players don’t necessarily see large chunks of the profits they bring in. The millions they make in the NBA are still more than most other jobs, but Green has a valid point when it comes to the money not being enough.

Draymond Green Reportedly Wants A Maximum Contract Extension

Draymond Green has a player option for next season, meaning he could be a free agent this summer. The reports since last year, after the Warriors won their championship, have said the same thing. Green is looking for a max extension, according to the media, although the Warriors might not be willing to give him one.

“Green, according to sources, wants and believes he deserves a maximum contract extension from the Warriors,” The Athletic reported in 2022. “After playing like the Defensive Player of the Year frontrunner before injury shortened his regular season, after helping lead the Warriors to a fourth championship in eight seasons, Green is convinced the core of the Warriors’ dynasty is worth every possible penny, and that includes him.”

Draymond Green has been open to the idea of moving on from the Warriors to get what he wants. And from his interaction with this fan, it seems like he still believes that the Warriors owe him a good chunk of money. Knowing how headstrong Draymond is, it does seem likely that he’ll get what he wants.
