Draymond Green Ejected For Putting Rudy Gobert In A Chokehold After Klay Thompson Caused A Warriors And Wolves Fight

A team-wide scuffle broke out within a few minutes of the Warriors vs. Wolves game.

Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels looked to send a message to each other early in the Warriors vs. Wolves In-Season Tournament game. Unfortunately, the message was extreme enough for both teams to start scrapping within the first few minutes of their contest. This led to Draymond Green putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold and getting promptly ejected for the same.

Klay Thompson is a veteran in the NBA but fell into a very amateur scuffle with Jaden McDaniels to start all of this. With Stephen Curry playing through injury, it's a shame to see his two co-stars act like children on the court and get ejected as a result.

The responsibility to carry them to a win falls on Curry once again, but because Green and Klay got into unnecessary physical confrontations. The Wolves saw Jaden McDaniels get thrown from the game, which will hurt them because he was likely going to be one of the primary defenders on Curry.

Will A Suspension Be In The Works For Any Of The Players?

The No. 1 question that Warriors fans need to think about right now is the short-term future of their team and whether their star defender Green will be penalized with a suspension by the NBA. It wouldn't be surprising if he is made to sit out a few games given how aggressive his chokehold on Gobert was. What's blowing my mind is that all of this was so unnecessary.

Klay and Draymond showed an incredible lack of composure that you don't expect from veterans of their status. They didn't act like four-time champions, they acted like petulant children who couldn't deal with taunting. It's unclear what McDaniels did with Klay to start the scuffle, to begin with, but the Warriors acted way out of character. Moments like this don't make them a tough team, it makes them a silly team.

Draymond was bound to get hit with consequences for his bizarrely aggressive start to the season. He's already had on-court confrontations with the likes of Donovan Mitchell and Anthony Edwards. Both those games also led to big losses for the Warriors, which shows his extra antics aren't helping the team be competitive either.

Klay's actions are still justifiable from the lens of Jaden instigating him. A player of his caliber shouldn't get instigated so easily, but he's having one of his worst starts to a season and is feeling the pressure to perform. With his contract expiring at the end of the season and Klay expecting a big payday, performances like tonight will only go to hurt the value he can generate on the open market.

Draymond could see himself facing a suspension for his actions, but it's hard to say the same for Klay and Jaden. The referees want to crack down on unnecessary physicality in the NBA, and this game will be a great example for them.
