The Golden State Warriors could see their championship dynasty come to an untimely end this summer, with franchise cornerstone Draymond Green in free agency.
Even though Green is widely expected to return to the Warriors, teams around the league would be intrigued by the opportunity to sign him. Chris Haynes has reported that Green is likely going to take free-agent meetings with other teams.
“That’s why teams like to keep their players away, they will hope they don’t take those recruiting meetings. I was told that Draymond Green is open to taking free-agent meetings with other teams, which could throw a wrinkle in. I expect him, if you ask me right now on June 26, what do I think happens? I think Draymond ends up back at Golden State.”

Green is likely going to draw attention from cap space teams like the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons. Even though his averages of 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists are less than impressive, they are not reflective of his on-court ability.
Green is a Swiss army knife that can do anything that’s asked of him, especially on the defensive end. He brings incredible value to Golden State and the team may climb up to uncomfortable dollar amounts to ward off external interest in Green.
Is There A Better Destination For Draymond Green?
The Warriors will always be the best destination for Green given his value to the history of the franchise and his on-court ability perfectly complementing Stephen Curry. But the Sacramento Kings might not be a bad landing spot for Green.
The team opened up over $30 million in cap space by dumping Richaun Holmes and are likely going to push for Green and make him their defensive anchor. Kings head coach Mike Brown has a terrific relationship with Draymond after years spent as a Golden State assistant.
The Detroit Pistons offer an intriguing homecoming but a team that is far from being a winning project just yet. They also have an incredibly crowded frontcourt with players like Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Duren, and James Wiseman already there. Monty Williams may love someone like Green, but outside of money, it doesn’t seem they have much to offer.
