Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have been together for over a decade now, and the latter has shared details about their first-ever date. Ayesha appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she reflected on what was a magical day.

“It was one of the best days of my life, honestly,” Ayesha said. “It was so innocent and young, and I wish I could relive that or at least watch it from like a bird’s eye view. It was so cute. We did Hollywood Boulevard, put our hands in the Maryland Hands, and got chai lattes.

“We went over to the Grove and walked around, and they were filming some Eddie Murphy movie that I don’t think it ever ended up coming out,” Ayesha continued. “… Checking cop cars to see if they had donuts. Just real young love. I don’t know. I remember it like it was yesterday.”

Ayesha revealed they didn’t kiss on that first date. Stephen would eventually try on their fourth one, but she hilariously turned him down at first.

“I was mid-sentence and he came flying at my face and I turned to the side,” Ayesha stated. “I’m still nervous at this point… He’s like, ‘Oh, oh,’ and I just look at him and I’m like, ‘I didn’t know that’s what we were doing. I didn’t know you liked me like that.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve just been coming over to your house for the past two weeks to play video games with your brothers.'”

That was the moment it dawned on Ayesha that this was something serious, and they would lock lips not long after. These two had first crossed paths when they were part of the same church group in Charlotte in their early teenage years. They couldn’t have imagined back then that they would one day be together, especially as they went their separate ways not long after.

Ayesha would move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career after graduating from Weddington High School, while Stephen attended Davidson College, where he made a name for himself on the national stage. They might have never crossed paths again, but he had to go to Los Angeles for the ESPYs in 2008.

Upon remembering Ayesha had moved to Los Angeles, Stephen decided to reach out. She revealed the first message he sent her on Facebook, which kick-started this romance.

“I was in this music video, and he was like, ‘Hey, who is that in the music video, in the picture that you’re in?'” Ayesha stated. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s Yung Berg.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I should have known. He always has all the sexy ladies.’ And I was like, ‘What is happening right now?'”

Stephen asked Ayesha if she was still in Los Angeles and wanted to hang out. She agreed, and here we are today.

Stephen and Ayesha would eventually marry on July 30, 2011. He was in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors by then, something she didn’t think was going to happen. Ayesha revealed that Stephen told her he wanted to be a high school basketball coach, but things would pan out quite differently.

What has gone according to plan is this marriage. Stephen and Ayesha are still going strong and have four children together: Riley, Ryan, Canon, and Caius.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
