Zion Williamson is spending more time on the sidelines after injuries stole another promising season away from the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2019.

During his time away, Williamson got a new tattoo across his back that reads ‘Mount Zion,’ with the T being illustrated like a cross. Fans are reacting to this new tattoo.

One fan compared it to a different tattoo, “Similar vibe.”

A fan mocked him for this tattoo causing another injury, “Zion Williamson out 5 more weeks (skin inflammation).”

More fans wanted an injury update instead of a tattoo reveal, “What about his legs, we are not really concerned about his tats but I get it’s a slow news cycle.”

One fan loved the nickname, “Dope nickname.”

One fan appreciated how cool it looked, “Kinda tuff.”

Another fan compared it to LeBron James, “Reminds me of LeBron’s chosen one tat.”

The design is definitely impressive, but fans still found the time to mock it, given the scale of it.

Zion Williamson has had a successful NBA career whenever he’s managed to be healthy enough to play. This season is yet another example of Zion not being durable or reliable enough to lead a team through an 82-game regular season and then the playoffs without getting hurt.

Can The Pelicans Succeed As Presently Constructed?

The New Orleans Pelicans have actually done a great job in terms of roster construction. When healthy, the Pelicans were fighting with teams in the upper echelon of the Western Conference. The injury concerns for both Zion and Brandon Ingram are weighing the team down significantly. Their absence may be good for the development of younger frontcourt players, but it’s killing their hopes of winning games.

The Pelicans are virtually out of the playoff race after occupying the No. 1 seed earlier this season. They are currently 12th in the West, half a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers. Zion was averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 29 games this season before his injury, being voted as an All-Star starter.

Zion missed the entirety of last season, and the Pels made the playoff without him. This season, it looks like the team won’t even get that far despite having Zion on the squad for the first few months of the season. He is unlikely to return this season with a hamstring injury and last played on January 2 of this year.
