  • George Gervin is a 9-time NBA All-Star and an NBA legend
  • George Gervin called Michael Jordan an a**hole during an interview
  • He called Kobe Bryant ‘Mr. Clutch’

Michael Jordan may be the GOAT, but that doesn’t necessarily make him the most well-liked player of all time. The truth is sort of the opposite. George Gervin is one of the NBA legends who doesn’t think too highly of MJ, as he made clear to Michael Cooper on a podcast recently.

“Uh, a**hole. Damn,” Gervin said in a conversation with Michael Cooper, who found it so hilarious that he told the Spurs legend that he didn’t even care to elaborate.

Michael Jordan wasn’t the only legend he spoke about, either. George Gervin was asked about Kobe Bryant next and said, “Clutch. Mr. Clutch.”

Both the things he said about these NBA greats make sense. Michael Jordan is hated by many, Isiah Thomas being chief among them. Saying that the GOAT is an a**hole is far from a controversial opinion in some circles.

Performing in the clutch, in the last five games matters more than a lot of other things for an NBA superstar. And Kobe Bryant was undeniably clutch, taking second place in our ranking of the most clutch players of all time.

Kobe Bryant took more clutch shots than any other player ever in his career, attempting 287. And while he shot 33.8% on those, the number he made is still truly amazing. George Gervin’s compliment suits the Mamba well.

Isiah Thomas Openly Reposted Something Calling Michael Jordan An A**hole

It’s not possible to be as successful and influential as Michael Jordan was and not have some people think you’re an a**hole.

The GOAT’s beef with Zeke is well known to everyone, so no one would be surprised to find out that Isiah Thomas reposted something calling Michael Jordan an a**hole on social media.

There is also more to it than that. The 1980s and 90s were an era when competition was encouraged and expected. Players went at each other hammer and tongs, and George Gervin and Michael Jordan were no exception.

Michael Jordan played just two games against George Gervin, and he scored 45 points and 38 points, respectively, so that might have something to do with it as well. His success ultimately becomes the reason a lot of his peers hate him.
