Tyrese Maxey is one of the best up-and-coming young guards in the league, and he shined in the playoffs as a No. 2 option for the Philadelphia 76ers behind Joel Embiid. Over the course of the postseason, Tyrese Maxey put up 20.8 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 3.9 APG, while shooting 37.7% from beyond the arc.

76ers forward Georges Niang has recently lauded Tyrese Maxey, claiming that Maxey’s jump this year is something that he’s “never seen”, and added that he thinks the 76ers found a “perennial All-Star”:

"His development this year is something I've never seen in all my years of basketball"

He’s just a joy to be around. Not only is he a tremendous player, he’s an even better person… his development this year is something I’ve never seen in all my years of basketball… I think we found a perennial All-Star. The kid is so talented: he has blazing speed, he showed it on both ends of the floor. He can shoot the ball at an elite level, and off the dribble… he just works and I think this is going to be another huge summer for him.

There is no doubt that Tyrese Maxey has been a revelation for the Philadelphia 76ers. A report suggested that the 76ers have him rated “ultra-high”, and that he is “close to untouchable” for the team:

“Maxey is as close to untouchable as you could be,” a source told PhillyVoice over the weekend.

As always, remind yourself in these situations that this is an easy thing to say and much easier to simply go back on if “the right opportunity” comes up. But the combination of Maxey’s present-day production, accelerated development, work ethic and character (not to mention his bargain contract) have him rated ultra high for the Sixers internally, certainly higher than even they guessed when they selected him in the draft two years ago. He is not going to be the sweetener in a deal if they move him, but the guy driving the outgoing value of a deal. Don’t expect him to move unless a very big fish is coming back.

Hopefully, we see Tyrese Maxey continue to get better for the Philadelphia 76ers. There’s no question that he has a promising future, and if he puts in the work, he can be truly special.

Perhaps we’ll end up seeing Tyrese Maxey become a full-fledged star for the Philadelphia 76ers next season. That would definitely help their chances at the championship, and hopefully, they can win the trophy during Joel Embiid’s prime.
