After blowing an 18-point lead to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, it became clear that the Golden State Warriors are not in a good place right now. But even as the panic starts to set in, there is hope of change for the organization and it starts at the trade market. This season, the Warriors have been quiet on any potential moves but the word on the street is that they’re high on All-Star forward Pascal Siakam, who was recently been made available by the Raptors.

“There’s a wild horse team out there that I’ve been told to look out for by rival executives…The Golden State Warriors… I do think, ultimately, this will be the trade deadline where Pascal is eventually moved,” reported Chris Haynes

The Warriors have been weak in the front court for years now. Even during the height of Stephen Curry’s run, the Warriors still lacked the proper size and it was always one of their weaker points. Siakam could change all that for the Warriors, and he could give them a boost on defense that they haven’t seen since Draymond Green’s suspension earlier this season.

Siakam Is The Top Prize Of The Season

After finally trading OG Anuboby earlier this week, the Raptors moved one step closer to a rebuild and they could take another step by moving Siakam before the deadline. At 29 years old, Siakam doesn’t fit the timeline of Scottie Barnes and he’d be much better suited in a place where he can compete for the last stretch of his prime. So, it’s no surprise that experts across the league are predicting a Siakam trade, and his mix of size and talent could change the situation of whatever team he joins next.

On the Warriors, however, Pascal could be unleashed to an entirely new degree. Alongside pure shooters like Steph and Klay, Siakam could have the best scoring season of his career and the Warriors would be vastly improved with his size, defense, and rebounding in the frontcourt. This season, through 34 games, he’s averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game on 52.1% shooting.

Warriors Need Help

Whether it’s Siakam or some other high-impact player, the Warriors need to bring in some kind of help if they want to avoid another disappointing ending. While Stephen Curry is still one of the best players in the world, his teammates are not what they used to be and the Wariros are suffering for it.  If GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. can find the right deal, one that doesn’t involve giving up the core three, it could make all the difference for the Warriors this season, who are just 16-18 at 11th in the West.

Ultimately, however, the Warriors need another star to compete at the highest level. Curry cannot do it alone and the decline of Andrew Wiggins has left him to carry the Warriors all by himself. Pascal Siakam may not be the best option for a sidekick, but he gives the Warriors some things that they desperately need and that’s really the best that they can hope for at this point.
