Dillon Brooks may well be one of the more disliked players in the NBA today, but there is no denying the fact that he is terrific on the defensive end.

Brooks’ prowess on that end was on full display against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and head coach Taylor Jenkins believes Brooks should make one of the All-Defensive Teams this year.

“You just look at the numbers,” Jenkins said postgame. “You watch the film, the stats about what opponents average against him, field goal percentages, point totals… I mean this guy absolutely cares about defense, wants to set a tone for us, (and) be a leader in that department for us. The numbers don’t lie, the film doesn’t lie. So, I think it’s a no-brainer that he should be an All-Defensive player.

(starts at 1:37 mark):

Brooks is one of the biggest reasons why the Memphis Grizzlies have the second-best defensive rating this season at 109.9, as per the NBA. He isn’t great on offense, as he averages 14.3 PPG on just 39.1% shooting from the field, but on the defensive end, he is one of the best in the league.

It seems likely that he will make one of the All-Defensive teams this season and it would be well deserved. If Brooks cuts down on the cheap shots and some of his other antics on the court, then he would get a lot more love than what he gets now, but he is unlikely to change at this point.

Stephen Curry Spoke About Dillon Brooks’ Defense Causing Him Problems

Brooks put on a clinic on defense against the Warriors as he did a fabulous job against Stephen Curry. Anyone who doubts Brooks’ credentials on that end of the floor, just needs to watch that game and they’ll realize that he is indeed pretty good.

Curry admitted after the game as well that Brooks’ defense did cause him some problems as he had just 16 points on 5-15 shooting from the field. Brooks was guarding him for much of the night and can be very proud of his performance. If these teams do end up meeting in the playoffs this season, then how well Brooks can defend Curry could end up determining who comes out on top in that series.
