Ja Morant was recently spotted in an IG Live waving a gun around in a car, leading to a reprisal of his controversy from March when he was suspended for eight games for flashing a gun in an IG Live while at a Denver nightclub.
Morant is under heavy criticism for his actions, even from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. He has released a statement taking full accountability for what he’s done.
“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey, and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”

Regardless of what Morant said now, the punishment for his actions will be hefty. The NBA let him off easy the first time around with the understanding that Morant made a mistake and will disassociate from such actions. With another incident just a few months later, the league will look to send a message.
Suspension Looming?
Ja Morant will likely spend a good chunk of the beginning of next season serving a suspension based on what’s being said. The NBA cannot afford to send a message that they’ll refrain from disciplining Ja because of his status as one of the most exciting players to watch and a possible future MVP candidate.
At least 20 games should be on the radar for this suspension and people will eagerly await what the NBA has to say in the matter. This is a shame though, as the Grizzlies, with Morant, could enter next season as title contenders if they make the right moves this summer.
