Ja Morant could potentially return to the Memphis Grizzlies lineup on Wednesday and play against the Houston Rockets.
The latest update came from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “They’re gonna ramp him up. I’m told he could return to the lineup as soon as Wednesday,” the NBA Insider said on FanDuel TV.
“So overall it’s an eight-game suspension for Ja Morant, unpaid and the NBA had its investigation. They concluded a few things…the gun did not belong to Morant, they concluded that he didn’t display it for longer than he did in the social media video.”

He further added: “A few things that their investigation showed, and that’s where they landed on their eight-game suspension.” Last week, the league announced that the guard would be suspended for eight games and without pay following his recent scandals.
In a statement released by the NBA, “Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous,” said commissioner Adam Silver.
“It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him. He has expressed sincere contrition and remorse for his behavior. Ja has also made it clear to me that he has learned from this incident and that he understands his obligations and responsibility to the Memphis Grizzlies and the broader NBA community extend well beyond his play on the court.”
The Grizzlies star last suited up against the Denver Nuggets on March 3 and has missed eight games since. He will miss the team’s upcoming clash against the Dallas Mavericks but appears to be well on track to play against the Rockets at FedExForum.
Ja Morant Confident Of Winning The Championship With The Grizzlies Upon His Return
He may be missing some ample game time, but Morant has his sights set on the NBA title as he gears from his comeback after his murky string of controversies that caused ripples in the league.
Speaking to Jalen Rose on ESPN, the immensely-talented guard revealed that he was ready to win a championship with the Grizzlies once he returned to the fold. “When I get back out there, I’m going to be ready to go. Ready to push for a ring,” Morant opined.

Memphis will be bolstered by Morant’s arrival as they push for a title shot. He has been sensational for the team this season, averaging 27.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 8.2 assists.
The team is placed third in the West with a 43-27 record and is set to make the postseason as legitimate contenders. Only time will if he still has the edge after all the recent furor.
