There is no doubt that there has been a lot of noise about Ja Morant as of late due to his gun incident. He has received a lot of negative attention as a result of the incident, and it is clear that his action was a mistake.

When speaking to Jalen Rose recently, Ja Morant opened up on what he has learned during his time away from basketball. He claimed that he realized that his not playing has made him realize everything that he has to lose.

“I feel like in the past, we didn’t know what’s at stake,” said Morant. “Now, you know finally me have that time to realize everything, have that time along, I realize that now. I realize what I have to lose.” (14:00)

It seems as though Ja Morant has learned from his mistake, and hopefully, we see him avoid putting himself in the same situation in the future. It seems as though he understands that the life he has created can be undone with a few mistakes.

This season, Ja Morant was averaging 27.1 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 8.2 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies prior to his being out due to this situation. There’s no doubt that he’s played at a high level, and it looks as though he’ll be able to come back for the playoffs, as it was recently reported that he would be suspended for 8 games, rather than the rest of the season.

Ja Morant Understands That He Made A Huge Mistake

Ja Morant understands the consequences of what he has done, and he is willing to take responsibility. Recently, Morant claimed that he wants to show “who Ja really is”, noting that he doesn’t “condone any type of violence”.

“It’s not who I am. I don’t condone any type of violence, but I take full responsibility for my actions,” Morant said. “I made a bad mistake. But in the future, I’m going to show everybody who Ja really is, what I’m about, and change this narrative.”

Hopefully, we see Ja Morant come back focused on basketball. It is clear that this incident has affected the Memphis Grizzlies’ season, and his being suspended for 8 games could end up altering their positions in the standings for the worse.

It remains to be seen how the Memphis Grizzlies will do in the playoffs this season. They certainly have the potential to get far, especially if they manage to retain their top-3 positioning in the West.
