After posting a video of himself flashing a gun on Instagram Live, Grizzlies star Ja Morant was forced to spend time away from the team as the NBA investigated allegations of violent and erratic behavior from the young point guard.

Interestingly, we have yet to hear from Morant himself throughout this ordeal besides a short statement he released shortly after the scene went viral.

But that all changed on Wednesday evening after Morant sat down for a tell-all with ESPN analyst Jalen Rose where he apologized and accepted responsibility for his actions.

“It’s not who I am. I don’t condone any type of violence, but I take full responsibility for my actions,” Morant said. “I made a bad mistake. But in the future, I’m going to show everybody who Ja really is, what I’m about, and change this narrative.”

Jalen isn’t usually the one picked to do a player-exclusive interview, but he’s the one who makes the most sense given his understanding of the situation and his wise public statement to Morant as the story was unfolding.

“He has way too much to lose,” Rose said on national tv earlier this month. “Trust me, I’ve been that young player carrying a gun, and (Michael) Wilbon alluded to this: When you start waving it, that can get you killed. That’s an entirely different thing than we’re talking about a superstar athlete should be putting themself in position. And as Stephen A. mentioned, that’s him on the video, on his IG Live. Ain’t nobody coaxing him, ain’t nobody egging him on to do that, that’s a personal choice.”

As for Ja himself, it’s good that he’s owning up to his mistakes and it should allow him to finally put this whole nightmare behind him.

Can Ja And The Grizzlies Move On?

There is no question that Morasnt made a serious mistake by flashing that firearm, and he’s paying the price with missed game, lost money, and a damaged reputation. But, all things considered, it could have been a whole lot worse for the young superstar.

Now that the investigation is over, all sides can move on and work toward the future, which is still very bright.

As one of the best young players in the game, Morant is capable of lifting the Grizzlies to new heights in the West and their place at 2nd in the Conference will keep them in a position to make a lot of noise in the playoffs.
