Ja Morant Reveals He Wants To Be A Billionaire By The Time He’s 30

Ja Morant has lofty goals off the court.

4 Min Read

Ja Morant is one of the top superstars in the league as of right now, and there’s no doubt that he is playing at a high level for the Memphis Grizzlies this season. Currently, Ja Morant is averaging 26.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 8.0 APG.

We have seen Ja Morant become the most exciting player in the NBA, and he has been a mainstay in the MVP conversation this year. Though Ja Morant has been amazing on the court, it is clear that he wants to extend his dominance to off-the-court ventures as well. Recently, he has claimed that he wants to be “a billionaire by 30”. Jabari Young of Forbes relayed the news.

“Me and my mom started a saying right after the season,” Morant tells Forbes. “Be a billionaire by 30. That’s my goal. So I have seven years.”

You want to tell Morant how ridiculously difficult that will be? It would be like stepping in front of him when he’s driving the lane for an acrobatic dunk. This is how ridiculously difficult it is: Only three athletes, Jordan, Tiger and LeBron, have ever landed on the Forbes list of billionaires—all of them known by one name.

Sort of like “Ja.”

“I see unlimited potential,” says his agent, Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports + Entertainment, who, to be fair, would most likely get a cut of that billion. “I just look forward, like everybody else, to seeing how far he can take it.”

There is no doubt that this is a lofty goal, but there is a chance that Ja Morant could achieve it. He is definitely a marketable athlete that entices fans, and perhaps that could result in more endorsements and off-court money in the future.

Ja Morant Recently Got A Signature Shoe From Nike

Recently, we saw Ja Morant get a signature shoe from Nike, and there’s no doubt that this is a big step for him and his partnership with the sports company. Notably, Kevin Durant reacted to the news, noting that it is a “great start” for Ja Morant’s brand.

“It’s a sad day knowing Ja will never hoop in the KD4s again….great start for 12 brand with these…,”

Hopefully, we see Ja Morant find similar success off the court as he does on the court. Many players are adept at building up their brands, and Ja Morant is clearly on the path to greatness in that department.

As of right now, though, Ja Morant’s focus is likely on the Memphis Grizzlies. They are championship contenders this season, and it will be interesting to see how far they get this year.
