Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies may be second in the West, but they are first by a wide margin when it comes to their boldness. Despite having achieved very little in the NBA playoffs, Morant and his team are always talking and have built an identity as one of the grittiest teams in basketball.

But recently, Morant's reputation as a rough rider took a turn in the worst way after the latest reports from Indiana.

Apparently, according to The Athletic, Morant and his acquaintances were caught targeting the opposing team's travel bus with a red laser believed to be attached to a gun.

Following a game between the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 29 in Memphis, acquaintances of Grizzlies star Ja Morant aggressively confronted members of the Pacers traveling party near the team’s bus in the loading area of FedExForum, and later someone in a slow-moving SUV — which Morant was riding in — trained a red laser on them.

It's a bad look for the Grizzlies, and Morant, even if the story is completely made up. Now that it's out in the open, Morant's reputation could take a hit, but it's no other consequences are expected at this time.

Was There A Gun Involved In The Incident?

Morant's involvement in the incident isn't directly known, as none of the witnesses could identify who was aiming the laser or harassing them in the street. The NBA also allegedly looked into the matter but could not confirm the details of the story.

The two members of the traveling party who spoke to The Athletic said that they did not see who shined the laser from the SUV. They also don’t know if the laser was attached to a gun, but they believed it was. A Pacers security guard in the loading area at the time remarked: “That’s 100 percent a gun.”

“We felt we were in grave danger,” one person who was present said. The two sources who spoke to The Athletic requested anonymity because they fear retribution from those who confronted them. They said they considered filing a report with police but decided against it for the same reason.

Things got chippy during the game, which is obviously what led to the escalation by Morant and his crew after the final buzzer.

With so much going on right now, this Morant story may not be stealing the headlines, but a lot of fans are starting to turn against Ja, who is quickly becoming one of the most polarizing players in basketball.
