Point guard Ja Morant is one of the top players in the league, and there’s no doubt that he is elite when he plays. He is an elite slasher and playmaker, and there’s no doubt that he’s the key to the Memphis Grizzlies’ championship hopes.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Claudia Jordan revealed that Ja Morant’s camp claimed that the gun the superstar flashed in a recent Instagram Live incident was, in fact, a toy. She noted that Adam Silver and the league will still suspend him despite them knowing that the gun is fake.

“My sources say that the relative in the back of the car in the back seat had a toy gun in the car,” Jordan said. “The gun is not real, and (the relative) was playing around with it. Passed it to Ja, and that got caught on the live he had in his hand. The video was sent to Adam Silver, NBA allegedly.”

“They have it, and they said the gun looks extremely fake like it’s obviously a toy gun. But according to my source, allegedly Adam Silver is still gonna go through with the suspension. Looking like it should be about 30 games even though they know it as a toy gun.”

If this is true, then Ja Morant should absolutely not be suspended. However, it is fair to say that flashing a gun on camera is definitely not a good look for an NBA superstar. Ja Morant’s punishment has not yet been announced, though some are speculating that he might be gone for half the season.

This season, Ja Morant averaged 26.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 8.1 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies. Hopefully, he can get past his off-court incidents and come back to being an even better player in the future.

Ja Morant Is A Good Presence In The Locker Room

Even though some people may have a negative perception of Ja Morant due to the off-court incidents, it seems as though he’s generally a great presence in the locker room, according to Jaren Jackson Jr.

“He’s a bro, he’s a homie,” Jackson said on Podcast P. “Kind of jokes, he’s fine. We laugh a lot. I think he has that switch that he can flip where he gets so competitive and he knows when to turn it on for the game. He gets us all in that mode where we’re like, ‘Alright, let’s go out there and be dogs, let’s have that unwavering confidence, it don’t matter what anybody throws at you, it don’t matter.’… He’s just one of the bros.”

It is clear that there are multiple facets to Ja Morant. While he has made mistakes, he deserves a chance at redemption, and hopefully, we see the Grizzlies and his teammates support him through this time of turbulence.
