Mark Cuban recently had some words for Jalen Brunson’s father, Rick, blaming him for losing the player in the 2022 free agency.

After a terrific 2021-22 NBA season with the Mavs, helping Luka Doncic reach the Western Conference Finals, Brunson signed with the New York Knicks.

“I’m really focused on Cleveland right now. That’s all,” Brunson told reporters on Tuesday when asked about Mark Cuban accusing his father of making him go to New York.

This all started when Cuban said that once Rick Brunson entered the picture, the situation changed for the Mavericks, who couldn’t do much to keep Jalen on the roster.

“Where it went south was when Rick took over, when the parent took over, or parents took over,” the Dallas Mavericks owners said.

This statement sparked a lot of reactions around the league, but not from Jalen, who didn’t want to address any of that. He’s focused on the next challenge, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in one of the most entertaining first-round series of the 2023 playoffs.

As for the Mavericks, they couldn’t even make it to the play-in tournament, with the NBA launching an investigation for ‘mocking’ the playoffs.

Luka Doncic Admits He Misses Jalen Brunson

Meanwhile, things aren’t going that well within the Mavs organization. The Kyrie Irving trade didn’t work as expected this campaign, and Luka Doncic even admitted he missed Brunson during their hard times.

Now the Mavericks could get punished for their actions ahead of the 2023 NBA playoffs, while the Knicks could shock the world and take down the Cleveland Cavaliers this postseason.

Brunson and his Knicks are living in a great moment right now, while the Mavericks have a lot of work to do if they want to save their future and be competitive in the upcoming NBA season.

Time will tell how this situation plays out, but the clock is ticking for the Texan team.
