Forward Jaylen Brown is one of the best two-way players in the league, and there’s no doubt that he’s elite on the court. However, Brown is also outspoken off the court as well and has no problem revealing what is on his mind regarding any particular issue.
Recently, we saw Jaylen Brown speak about a section of Boston Celtics fans that are “problematic” and “toxic”, also slamming that group for not wanting to see athletes be able to use their platforms.
“It’s not the whole Celtic fanbase, but it is a part of the fanbase that exists within the Celtic Nation that is problematic. If you have a bad game, they tie it with your personal character,” Brown shared.
“I definitely think there’s a group or an amount within the Celtic nation that is extremely toxic and does not want to see athletes use their platform, or they just want you to play basketball and entertain and go home. And that’s a problem to me.”

There is no doubt that every fanbase has people who get disrespectful, and it is an extremely unfortunate part of the game. Hopefully, we see less of that going forward, and it is good to see Brown speak about this issue.
This season, Jaylen Brown has averaged 26.8 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 3.3 APG for the Boston Celtics, and he has certainly been an All-NBA level player, with some even suggesting that he’s an MVP candidate. It will be interesting to see if he does get selected for the teams though, as the competition this year is at an all-time high.
Jaylen Brown Has Called Out Opposing Fans As Well
Jaylen Brown has shown no hesitation in calling out opposing fans as well, when the conduct warrants it. He once took shots at Philadelphia 76ers fans, even revealing that some people were hoping that he tears his ACL.
“The crowd was a little bit hostile,” Brown said. “In moments there were people in the sides talking crazy etc, but we persevere… I started talking to one of the fans who got a little bit excessive where it got a little disrespectful. Even before the game, we were entering the arena there’s people saying, ‘I hope you tear your ACL.’ and I understand people care and they love the team that they cheer for, but it gets a bit excessive at times.”
There’s no doubt that this sort of behavior from fans is unacceptable, and sometimes people just end up crossing the line. These actions have no place in sports, and there are times where people simply need to sit back and enjoy the game, rather than trying to aggravate players.
