The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers were involved in a thriller on Saturday night that saw the Celtics emerge victorious.

It was a great game but considering the rivalry that exists between the sides, fans cross the line at times and Jaylen Brown called out Sixers fans for being disrespectful.

“The crowd was a little bit hostile,” Brown said. “In moments there were people in the sides talking crazy etc, but we persevere… I started talking to one of the fans who got a little bit excessive where it got a little disrespectful. Even before the game, we were entering the arena there’s people saying, ‘I hope you tear your ACL.’ and I understand people care and they love the team that they cheer for, but it gets a bit excessive at times.”

It is a shame that fans tend to go overboard like this and unfortunately this isn’t the only instance this season. A couple of them got into it with Marcus Smart in the second half as well, with the resulting verbal altercation leading to them being escorted from their seats. It somewhat took the focus away from what happened on the court.

This Was Another Big Win For The Celtics

The Celtics had seemingly gone clear of the chasing pack a few weeks back, but they now have the Milwaukee Bucks and the Sixers breathing down their necks. This one could have ended very differently if Joel Embiid’s full-court shot had counted at the end, but it didn’t and the Celtics hung on.

At this point, it would be safe to say that these three are the real contenders in the Eastern Conference and whoever gets that top seed will have a big advantage. It isn’t just about home-court advantage in the Conference Finals, but it would also mean you get to avoid facing the other two in the Conference Semifinals, which could be huge. With this win, the Celtics are a game ahead of the Bucks and 4 ahead of the Sixers and they’ll be hoping to increase that advantage in the coming weeks.
