When the news broke that the Celtics were engaging in trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, fans in Boston would have been thrilled at the prospect of having KD on their team. Durant on the Celtics would be a problem for the rest of the league, but it seems like their pursuit of the superstar might have led to some problems within the team.

Shams Charania had reported that the Celtics offered a package centered around Jaylen Brown for Durant, which was immediately rejected, and Brown was not pleased when the news reached him that the team had tried to ship him out of town.

His reaction should hardly come as a surprise, as most people would be offended after hearing this. Brown had just played a key role in helping the Celtics get to the Finals and to now be dumped off to Brooklyn is a bit harsh. This situation is exactly why players should always look out for themselves first and then think about the team because the team will always look for their best interests over that of a player.

This is also the second time Brown has publicly shown his discontent on this matter. The first time was when the news first broke about Durant requesting a trade as many within the Celtics fanbase seemingly wanted him out back then to land KD. Brown then liked a tweet that stated that he is disrespected by Celtics fans, and those feelings will only grow after hearing he was included in that trade package.

It’s hard to blame the Celtics either for trying to land KD, as you just don’t pass up on the opportunity to land an all-time great. Brown isn’t the first and won’t be the last star to be in this position, and if this trade doesn’t go through in the end, it will be interesting to see how it impacts his relationship with the team.
