The Boston Celtics have built an amazing team around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They are perennial contenders in the Eastern Conference and could be on their way to a second consecutive NBA Finals appearance.
Despite this, there are rumors that Jaylen Brown may leave via trade or in free agency in 2024. With his co-star potentially moving on to greener pastures, there is some concern that Tatum might follow suit and ask out. However, that might not be the case after all.
“They have done nothing but make Jayson Tatum feel welcome there, make him feel like he is part of a line that goes back to Bill Russell, [John] Havlicek, Sam Jones, Larry Bird, Paul Pierce, all the Celtics greats,” an anonymous NBA GM told Heavy. “As long as they are continuing to win, I don’t think you’re going to hear anything negative from Tatum about wanting to leave.”
Jayson Tatum is very much the main star for the Boston Celtics, and that might be part of the reason why Brown moves on. Losing him in free agency in 2024 could be disastrous, they would lose a huge asset for essentially nothing. And if they don’t want to lose Brown for no return, the Celtics will have to swing a trade this offseason. But it seems that whatever they decide, Tatum is content knowing that he is the main man in Boston.
Jaylen Brown Could Join The Houston Rockets To Be The No. 1 Option
Jaylen Brown is averaging 25.7 points per game on elite efficiency in this season’s playoffs, all while playing excellent defense. He has shown time and again that he might be too good to stay a No. 2 option. And with the Houston Rockets reportedly interested, it seems that being the No. 1 option could be the main draw for him.
“He is good enough to be a No. 1 option for half the teams in the league and maybe he wants that challenge. There has been some talk about Jaylen and Houston, he could go to Houston and take that team over, and be the face of the franchise. The Rockets would love that.”
Jaylen Brown is at an interesting crossroads in his career, and it will be exciting to see the decisions that he makes moving forward. The Celtics will surely want to keep him, but if it becomes apparent they can’t, then at least they can make their moves knowing they have their superstar, Jayson Tatum, locked in and committed.
