Jimmy Butler was all praise for his teammate Bam Adebayo ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.

Butler oozed confidence when he said, “He’s gonna be the reason we win the championship.” And he’s not wrong. In his first two games of the Finals, Adebayo averaged 23.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.

Overall in the postseason, he has propped up 17.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. These performances, along with Butler’s own impressive run, have been instrumental in the Heat making the Finals.

The Heat are trying to win their first championship, and much depends on how Adebayo plays on both ends of the floor.

While the big has had to contrast runs in some of the games against the Celtics in the Conference Finals, he’s remained fairly consistent against the Nuggets. That he’s earned Butler’s trust shows how vital he is in the Heat’s title run this season.

The Finals Pressure Doesn’t Bother Bam Adebayo

Earlier, Adebayo narrated his struggles in his formative years, saying they were challenging and that the pressure of the NBA Finals wasn’t a lot compared to the initial struggle he faced.

“Maaaaaan,” Adebayo told The Athletic. “I lived off $12,000 a year, me and my mom. It doesn’t get weightier than that. This is fun.”

The Heat were dominant in Game 2, and a win would have buoyed them heading into Game 3 in their own backyard. However, the Heat and their big will be aware of the threats that Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray pose. Despite all the confidence that Butler has reposed in Adebayo, both of the Heat’s stars will know that this series is far from over.
