With perhaps one of the greatest playoff performances ever, Jimmy Butler carried the Miami Heat over the finish line against the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. As it stands, it’s currently the biggest playoff upset of the year.

So after the miraculous victory over Milwaukee, how is Butler feeling about his new opponent? Speaking to the media this weekend, Jimmy made sure to set the record straight on his mentality in the East Semi-Finals.

“We’re gonna do all of this as a team. We’re not gonna make this a Thibs vs. myself thing. We’re not gonna even talk remotely about that. Because it’s gonna take our entire roster…It’s the Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks.”

After Tyler Herro went down in Game 1, nobody was giving Miami much of a chance to win anything this year. Yet, somehow, Butler found a way to do it against the NBA’s championship favorite.

Now, ahead of Game 1, the Heat are in a position to make a statement and start the next series off on the right foot.

Can Butler Get The Heat Past New York?

As the 8th seed in the East, the Heat will be major underdogs the rest of the way, but there is still a path to Finals for this group. If Jimmy can maintain his MVP-like play, and Bam Adebayo is able to step up as that second star, then the heat will be tough to beat.

Of course, the Knicks’ have more than enough depth and toughness to get in their way.

“Now, Jimmy Butler might be familiar with him too. All I’m trying to say to you is this – there is a reason to fear Jimmy Butler, but that will only elevate the level of focus and commitment that is necessary to take him down,” said Stephen A. Smith. “And he will go down, in this series. The Garden is a different animal. New York gonna handle their business because they fear Jimmy Butler respectfully enough that they will key on him in ways that Milwaukee inexplicably never did.”

With just a single round in the books, it’s crazy to think about how much has already happened. The Bucks are out, the Warriors are one loss away from elimination, and the championship seems up for grabs for the first time in years.

No matter what happens, you can bet that Butler will keep his team in line and have them focused on the right things moving forward — because, at this point, they have as good a chance to win as any other team left in the playoffs.
