Dubbed the loudest trash talkers in the NBA, the Memphis Grizzlies were clearly very confident in their team before their season came to a crashing halt in the first round. Against the Lakers through 6 games, Memphis was bullied and exposed, so much so that even the notorious Dillon Brooks was left with nothing to say by the time it was all said and done.
For the Lakers, they are already thinking ahead for their next opponent, but it doesn’t mean they’re done having fun at the expense of the Grizzlies. On Instagram this weekend, Lakers guard Dennis Schroder became the latest to take a swing at the Grizz with his latest story post…

For those unaware, the music in the clip is a reference to a moment from Morant earlier this season, when he had his daughter recite the words after a dominant game against the Rockets.
“Following the game, Morant gave the postgame interview with his daughter, Kaari Morant. The father-duo daughter’s reaction to Morant’s return has now gone viral on the internet. Prior to the beginning of the game against the Rockets, Morant was recorded in the tunnel shouting, ‘It’s a parade inside my city, yeah!'”
With the season now over for the Grizzlies, it was only a matter of time before that signature moment came back to haunt Morant. Sadly, despite talking a big game, Ja was unable to back it up and now there’s nothing left for him to do but listen to the haters celebrate his downfall.
What’s Next For Ja After Playoff Loss?
Ja himself admitted that his leadership fell short this season, and it’s something he’ll have to address if he wants to achieve success in the future. As one of the bright young stars of the league, it’s up to Ja to set the tone and mindset for his team, and building the right culture requires accountability on all fronts.
“I’ve just got to be better with my decision-making,” Morant said. “That’s pretty much it. Off-the-court issues affected us as an organization pretty much. Just [need] more discipline.”
Only time will tell if Ja can show the kind of discipline his team requires, but it’s too late to make things right now. After all the talking he did, it’s Morant’s turn to face the music and the Lakers are letting him hear it.
