Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies couldn’t get the job done and succumbed to the No. 7 seed Los Angeles Lakers in a series that was a lot easier than expected for the Purple and Gold.

After everything was said and done, the talented guard opened up on how this season ended and what it meant for him to be involved in controversies, especially when the playoffs were getting close.

“I’ve just got to be better with my decision-making,” Morant said. “That’s pretty much it. Off-the-court issues affected us as an organization pretty much. Just [need] more discipline.”

He knows he was to blame for certain situations and also reflected on that, vowing to be better now both on and off the court for his team.

“I feel like mine is more off the court and on the court–just being disciplined on both sides,” Morant said. “Off the court, making better decisions. On the court, being locked in even more. Being a leader of this team, it pretty much starts with me. So however I attack my situation, I know my guys will follow. I’ve just got to be better in that area.”

In case anybody didn’t know, Ja was involved in a series of controversies all season long. From people close to him pointing alleged guns at Indiana Pacers staffers to Morant beating up a teenager and the final straw for the Grizzlies, the player flashing a gun on Instagram Live

All these situations change the perception about Ja, who was called out more than once for acting like something he isn’t. Hopefully, this season was full of learning for the 2022 Most Improved Player and next year can be only focused on winning that championship.

Memphis Grizzlies Had No Response To Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers capitalized on every mistake the Grizzlies made during the series, as well as Ja’s injury in Game 1. The Purple and Gold were too much to bear for the younger Grizzlies, and in the end, they finished the series with a 40-point win.

While LeBron James and co. move on to the next round, the Grizzlies will have some decisions to make this offseason if they want to remain competitive in the Western Conference.
