Damian Lillard is one of the most exciting players in the NBA right now, and he’s been mentioned in many trade rumors around the league for a while now. The Portland Trail Blazers player has stated he wants to stay with his team yet trade rumors about him don’t stop coming.

He’s giving it another try with the Blazers next season, which wasn’t met with good eyes by a lot of people in the association. However, JJ Redick believes this is great from Dame, as loyalty is something unusual in the NBA right now.

“When we talk about loyalty in sports, it barely exists. … We should applaud Dame for wanting to win his way. Whether it’s realistic or not at this point, I think we should be applauding how he’s approached his career and his loyalty to Portland, that city and that franchise,” the retired sharpshooter said on ESPN’s First Take.

Lillard is one of the best players in his position, which makes him a desirable asset for many teams around the league. He’s been linked with the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and even the Philadelphia 76ers in recent times.

Still, Dame hasn’t opened the door to any team, even though he claimed the Heat and Brooklyn would be teams he’d like to play for. Lillard is ready to make a splash with the Blazers, but if they can’t grant his demands, Dame will be ready to leave soon.

The Trail Blazers Are Working Hard To Make Win-Now Moves

That’s why the team has gotten to work on finding the best players to build around Lillard. They’re even interested in trading the 2023 No. 3 overall pick for a star that can turn things around at Moda Center.

This is a big option for the Blazers, but it remains to be seen if they can find the right trade partner to bring in a solid second star. They have to make smart decisions to maximize their chances or Lillard will leave the squad.
