Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat was admittedly a little boring. The Nuggets were in control for the most part and won comfortably in the end.
That had more to do with how the game played out than anything else, though, there is a lot of basketball talent on display during the series. Despite this, some fans have made claims about the Finals being boring. Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder has shut those fans down, though.
“Only to casuals,” Giddey wrote in response to a basketball page on Twitter asking if these are the most boring Finals ever.

Nikola Jokic isn’t the flashiest of superstars, and despite having won two MVPs, he doesn’t get the same love a lot of other players do. Michael Malone has spoken about this in this playoff run. The Nuggets also play an exciting brand of team-oriented offense first basketball, which makes them fun to watch for any basketball fan.
The Miami Heat are the ultimate underdogs. On the face of it, a team with just two stars and a bunch of lesser-known players seems boring, but their story so far has been incredible. Having beaten the No. 1 seed and the No. 2 seed with mostly undrafted players, the Heat have been a compelling watch all postseason. So Giddey is not wrong when he says that only fans that don’t know what they’re talking about would find these Finals boring.
Miami Heat Have A Chance To Upset The Denver Nuggets
While on paper, this matchup looks like it’s over before it begins, that’s not necessarily true. The Heat have been underdogs in their series against the Bucks as well as the Celtics but have overcome both those obstacles. Our writer, Ishaan Bhattacharya, detailed a few ways in which the Heat can shock the NBA world and pull off the unexpected.
Jimmy Butler will have to get a lot more aggressive starting Game 2, while Bam Adebayo will need to have more of a defensive impact. Erik Spoelstra will surely make some adjustments based on the first loss, and the Heat’s role players won’t always struggle, either. The series has just begun and, despite what some suggest, promises to be quite entertaining for however many games are left.
