Superstar LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record this season, and there is no doubt that this is a great achievement. At one point, Abdul-Jabbar’s record was thought to be unbreakable, so James passing him is a testament to his ability.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has recently sent an inspiring message about the scoring record, as April 5th is the day he passed Wilt Chamberlain to set a new scoring record. He noted that players continuously surpassing records is “how it should be.”

“On this day 39 years ago, I passed Wilt Chamberlain to set a new NBA scoring record. Two months ago, LeBron James passed my record. That’s exactly how it should be: athletes constantly pushing each other to prove there are no limits of human achievement.”

It is clear that the more human beings achieve, the more they will want to push their limits even further. That is no different for basketball, and perhaps one day, we will see another superstar who is able to pass LeBron James on the all-time scoring list.

LeBron James Didn’t Think He Could Pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar In Scoring

LeBron James is known as a pass-first player, and there’s no doubt that people don’t necessarily think of him as a dominant scorer. Previously, James stated that he never thought he could pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record.

“I never thought that I could catch Kareem in scoring, that has never been something that has been on my mind. He’s lying there but he’s not a liar but he’s lying there for sure. I also think that he went to the roof in Oracle Arena and in that locker room and took that money too that we would try to go back and get when we went back for Game 7, too because it wasn’t there when we went back. I think he took that money and told us somebody else went up there and grabbed it. I don’t know as I get closer and closer I think I’ll start to feel more and more. … I’ve gone to this please by not even thinking about it or not even being at a moment just trying to play the game the right way.”

It is always amazing to see longstanding records get broken, and LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record was one of the biggest events of the season. Though it will be a long time before anyone breaks the new record set by LeBron James, that moment as well will be a monumental occasion.
