  • Kawhi Leonard had criticism for the NBA’s new Player Participation Policy
  • Leonard noted that he works out to play the game
  • The superstar only played 52 games last season

Forward Kawhi Leonard is one of the best players in the league when he is fully healthy. He is arguably the best two-way player in the league when at his best, and Leonard also rises in the playoffs.

One of the reasons that the Los Angeles Clippers have been hampered over the last few seasons is due to Leonard’s durability, and the star has become infamous among fans and analysts for partaking in “load management”. The league recently implemented new rules on star rest, stipulating that two star-level players cannot rest in the same game. Kawhi Leonard provided his take on the new policy, criticizing it and noting that no policy will help him “play more games”. Leonard only played 52 games during the 2022-23 season.

“If the league is trying to mock what I did with the Raptors, it should stop, because I was injured during that whole year… I work out every day in the summertime to play the game, not to sit out and watch others play. No league policy is helping me to play more games.”

It is clear that Kawhi Leonard is unhappy with the new policy on star participation. It is easy to see why the superstar believes he is being targeted. However, ultimately, the league wants star players across the league to play games, and the rule wasn’t exclusively designed for Leonard.

This past season, Kawhi Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He was highly efficient, shooting 51.2% from the field and 41.6% from the 3PT range, and hopefully, we see the best version of Leonard this season.

Kawhi Leonard Is 100% Going Into The Season

Even though Kawhi Leonard tore his meniscus in the playoffs, he should be ready to go this season. In fact, both Leonard and Paul George are expected to be 100% going into training camp.

The key for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George this season is simply being able to stay healthy throughout the entire season. The team has the talent and the depth to be successful, but the stars’ general lack of availability has been a recurring problem for the franchise.

We will see how well Kawhi Leonard and Paul George perform next season. It definitely seems like now or never for this iteration of the team, and hopefully, they will be able to dominate this season.
