Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers in the history of the NBA. The 2-time NBA champion has been one of the best players in the NBA for over a decade and has defined a generation with his play. Durant is lethal from any and every part of the court. But Durant has admitted on multiple occasions that he takes massive inspiration from some of the NBA’s best players.

In a recent snippet from Jackie MacMullan’s new podcast ‘Icons Club’, she played a part of her interview with Kevin Durant, where he spoke about the influence legendary players from the past have had on him. Durant also noted that he hopes to meet these legendary players down the line and speak to them about it. But even if he can’t do that, he doesn’t shy away from the impact they have had on his life (8:25 onwards).

“I admire these guys from afar, I followed their careers from afar, through the internet, through books, through whatever. And at some point, if we were to cross paths, I’m sure we’ll have a conversation. But if not, I still respect everything these guys brought to the game and I’m trying to leave my print on the game the same way.”

Durant clearly respects the NBA legends that paved the way for him. He has spoken in the past about how much respect he has for Michael Jordan. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Durant has taken inspiration from Jordan and other legends of the game such as Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, and many other NBA legends.

Durant is currently focused on forging his legacy as an all-time great, trying to win another NBA championship. But recently, KD said that he can’t guarantee that the Brooklyn Nets, as presently constructed could win the NBA championship. Knowing Durant, however, he will go full throttle in an attempt to get back to the top of the NBA mountain.
