The Golden State Warriors have gone down as one of the greatest dynasties in the modern NBA, having won four NBA titles in the last eight seasons.

While a lot of the credit for their success has gone to Klay Thompson and especially Stephen Curry, Klay doesn’t believe they would have had the same success without Draymond Green.

“I don’t think me and Steph would have the success we did,” Thompson said on the How Hungry Are You? show. “Because me and Steph are such nice guys that we might not have that intimidating factor or whatever you want to call it. Draymond when he came and coach put him in the starting lineup, he’s got such an edge to him. He might not be the most skilled player out there but he will do anything and everything he can to win the game. Whether that’s getting under the opponent’s skin or diving for a loose ball, getting us open, I have a ton of respect for Draymond.”

Klay is pretty much on point here, as the Warriors needed a character like Draymond. Thompson also spoke glowingly about Green’s ability to defend while also running an offense, which was somewhat unique when he first burst on the scene.

Thompson also said that every dynasty needs a character like Draymond and pointed to how the Chicago Bulls had a character like Dennis Rodman. Klay had also come to Green’s defense recently, stating that they wouldn’t have the banners they have had if he wasn’t on the team. His career averages of 8.7 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 5.6 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 1.0 BPG aren’t all that impressive, but there is no denying how valuable he has been for Golden State over the years.

Draymond Green Could Leave The Warriors After This Season

All good things must come to an end at some point, and Draymond’s tenure with the Warriors could come to an end after this season. He is a free agent in the summer, and all signs are seemingly pointing toward him leaving.

He has been linked with a move to the Los Angeles Lakers for a while now to team up with his good friend LeBron James. Bill Simmons, meanwhile, is predicting that both Green and James will end up on the Dallas Mavericks. Whatever the case may be, an exit seems quite likely, and Green would be hoping he can leave on a high by winning another championship.
