The Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies have the most unexpected rivalry in the NBA today. This current version of the beef has been epitomized by the heated verbal exchanges between Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks.

Dillon Brooks has gone back and forth with Draymond Green quite a bit recently, claiming he is a better player. Draymond has not held back either, calling Brooks an idiot. And now Klay Thompson has spoken out on the situation too.

(starts at 2:56 minutes)

“You know, Draymond is an amazing basketball player,” Klay Thompson said in his press conference after a win against the Milwaukee Bucks. “He might not score 30 points a night, but he’s a winner. He has been at every level.

“No matter what these jokers on television say or other players around the league, the hardware and the resume speaks for itself. And we do not have the banners or the success we have without Draymond Green.”

These are strong words from Klay Thompson, and he isn’t wrong about this at all. Draymond Green is the definition of a player who defies the idea that good stats are necessary to impact winning.

Draymond has averaged less than 10 points per game every season since 2018-19, but he is a pivotal part of the Warriors winning 4 championships. And while he does deserve criticism from time to time, it is wild to see someone like Dillon Brooks go so hard at him while having no personal success.

Draymond Green’s Career Achievements Are Incredibly Impressive

Draymond Green’s career is something most other players in NBA history would do anything to have. Green’s impactful play has led to 4 NBA championships to go along with 4 All-Star appearances despite not being a volume scorer. He has made the All-NBA Second Team once and the All-NBA Third Team once, which are also incredible individual honors.

It’s the defensive end where Draymond has truly distinguished himself in his career. Green has won Defensive Player Of The Year while also making it to the All-Defensive First Team on 4 occasions. He led the league in steals 4 times, and his leadership has been stellar for the Warriors. Whether someone likes him or not, Draymond Green is likely a Hall Of Famer and he deserves more respect from people.
