The Boston Celtics traded for Kristaps Porzingis ahead of the NBA Draft, and there is no doubt that they wanted to add some size and shooting to their frontcourt. He opted into his $36 million player option to facilitate the deal.
It seems as though Kristaps Porzingis wants to stay with the Boston Celtics for the next few seasons. NBA insider Chris Haynes revealed that the big man has agreed on a two-year, $60 million extension with the team.
“Boston Celtics and Kristaps Porzingis are expected to finalize a two-year, approximately $60 million extension, league sources tell NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report.”

There is no doubt that Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis comprise one of the best big threes in the league. It is easy to see why the team opted to make a long-term commitment to him, and the Celtics will certainly be one of the better teams in the league next year from a talent standpoint.
In the 2022-23 regular season with the Washington Wizards, Kristaps Porzingis averaged 23.2 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting 38.5% from 3PT range. Porzingis will be able to play both PF and C for the Celtics, and his shooting could potentially take their offense to the next level.
