Clinging to playoff hopes, the Los Angeles Lakers need every win they can get. So, coming into tonight’s contest against the Golden State Warriors, we all knew they’d be looking to Anthony Davis to carry them to a W.
Fortunately, that’s exactly what he did. With a final stat line of 39 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, he carried the Lakers to a narrow victory (113-105) despite the return of Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala.
On Twitter, Lakers Nation was celebrating the enormous win that kept their season alive — for now.
“WE BACK IN BUSINESS,” wrote one fan excitedly.

At 31-34, the Lakers are proving they have what it takes to hang around and secure a play-in spot. If they can win against a fully healthy Warriors team without LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell, they can win against anyone.
Still, the question remains: how far can the Lakers go this season?
Lakers Hoping To Make Late Playoff Push After NBA Trade Deadline
The first three-quarters of the season was an absolute nightmare for the Purple and Gold. With Russell Westbrook, they had a star who didn’t fit and a weak supporting cast that was incapable of stretching the floor.
But credit must be given to Rob Pelinka for finding ways to flip his assets and turn one of the worst teams in basketball into a deep and well-rounded roster.
While the blame cannot be put squarely on Russ, the decision to trade him for better-fitting players may be the biggest reason for this miraculous turnaround.
“I think when we made the Russell Westbrook trade, we did it with the hope of bringing a championship, having a big 3,” said Rob Pelinka. “And clearly, we fell short of that. But when something’s not working as a general manager, it’s your job to fix it. No one has a perfect track record. But when you feel like a team isn’t performing the way it’s supposed to you gotta rearrange the parts. And that was sort of what we did at the trade deadline.”
Only time will tell us how this all plays out for the Lakeshow, but there are plenty of reasons to believe they can shock the world this spring.
Today’s win over the defending champs proved you cannot count out this Lakers team.
