With the Lakers teetering on the edge of the play-in line, LeBron James has been vocal about how important this stretch of games is for his career.

“These are 23 of the most important games of my career,” James said on the Lakers’ remaining set games

But after suffering a minor injury scare on Sunday, it seems James will be taking another night off in Tuesday’s visit to Memphis against Ja Morant and Grizzlies.

James had many fans freaking out this weekend after claiming to hear a ‘pop’ in his ankle, and it seems he’s experiencing a very legitimate level of pain in the area as he was seen limping out of the arena.

Still, fans couldn’t help but lament James’ absence during a time when the team needs every win that they can get.

“These next 21 games are the most important games of my career,” wrote one user, remembering LeBron’s previous statement.

“No D’Lo or Bron. Likely an L.”

“lol the Lakers are a joke,” wrote one upset fan.

“The most important games of his career. Lol. Will Splinter Davis be suiting up?”

“NOOOO MY SWEET PRECIOUS KING LEBRON JAMES IS OUT…”

“Season over.”

“Is anyone really surprised?”

At 38 years old, LeBron has to be extra careful with how he cares for and maintains his body. And now with this revamped roster, LeBron wants to make sure he’s ready and healthy for the postseason.

The only problem is, as the 12th seed in the West, there’s a real possibility the Lakers don’t make the playoffs at all.

Can Lakers Make A Finals Run This Season?

Despite the compromised healthy of LeBron James, the Lakers might still have enough to make some serious noise this season. Following an impressive string of moves at the trade deadline, the lakers have some real depth now and James has his best chance to win since the 2020 bubble.

Unfortunately, they have yet to dig themselves out of the hole they dug early on. At 3 games below .500, the Lakers are embroiled in a brutal race for the playoffs with at least six other teams within just a few games of each other.

The path to a playoff spot is daunting, for sure, especially with LeBron set to miss Tuesday’s match against the Grizzlies. But the Lakers’ season is far from over, and you should never count them out as long as they still have King James playing like one of the top players in the game.
