LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t the only ones getting bad news about their injuries, as LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets have been hit with a terrible update.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the player will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 NBA season.

“Hornets All-Star LaMelo Ball will miss the remainder of the season with his fractured right ankle, sources tell. Ball has had multiple left ankle sprains this season before suffering the right ankle fracture on Monday night.”

This is terrible for the Hornets, who have struggled to win games consistently this season, and Ball has been the subject of criticism from some people that don’t think he has what it takes to lead the Hornets to compete for championships.

In 36 games this season, Melo averaged 23.3 points, 8.4 assists, and 6.4 rebounds for the Hornets, posting 41.1% from the field and 83.6% from the free-throw line. This is a big loss for the Hornets, who appeared to be finding some momentum in the past couple of games.

Charlotte Hornets Are Going Through A 5-Game Winning Streak

Despite losing Melo during their most recent duel against the Detroit Pistons, the Hornets won their fifth consecutive NBA game, which included wins over the Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Miami Heat.

They have nothing to compete for this season, but it’s good that they’re showing good signs of a competitive team. Amid all the drama surrounding some of their players this season, the Hornets could never find the momentum and now are one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Perhaps their terrible record works in their favor, and they can draft Victor Wembanyama in the upcoming NBA Draft. A duo of LaMelo and Wemby would be really entertaining to watch, but we still have to sit and wait for what’s next for this team.

Meanwhile, the point guard has to start his recovery process, and we hope he gets back to the court stronger than before.
