LeBron James is still one of the best players in the league, and there is no doubt that he has been dominant even this year. LeBron James is currently averaging 29.6 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 7.0 APG for the Los Angeles Lakers

Recently, we saw Gilbert Arenas deliver his take on why LeBron James is the GOAT over Michael Jordan. In a recent episode of our podcast, Lee Tran, Ishaan Bhattacharya, and Divij Kulkarni discussed whether LeBron James has a solid GOAT case. (48:41)

Divij Kulkarni: For me it’s a resounding yes… LeBron James absolutely has a GOAT case. It gets stronger with every year that he continues to play at a level most can’t even manage in their prime. I’m not even a LeBron fan… but after a point, the disrespect he gets in the conversation gets to me. I’m hoping to see him win at least one more championship before he retires.

Ishaan Bhattacharya: Saying LeBron James doesn’t have a GOAT case… you’re drinking so much Haterade… I truly believe that when it comes to GOAT cases, it really ends with Jordan and LeBron… When it comes to NBA… I don’t think any of these all-time greats can be called the GOAT outside Michael Jordan and LeBron James. At that point, just take your pick… You really can’t go wrong with an answer… It’s okay to have two GOAT cases.

Lee Tran: I agree with both of you. I think LeBron James has a GOAT case… I did watch during the pandemic… I watched some of Jordan’s games. I don’t have beef with anyone who says, “Jordan, I can’t have LeBron as the GOAT.” I’m cool with that, but at the end of the day, he was great. I can’t argue with the results with the eye test. LeBron James’ GOAT case is a lot more based on statistics… the impact he’s had on the game itself… There can be multiple GOATs in terms of era.

There is no doubt that LeBron James has a legitimate GOAT case, and if he wins more championships in the future he could end up making his case even better. We’ll have to wait to see what happens in the future.
