LeBron James wants to be remembered as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, and rightfully so. He has achieved almost everything that he set out to do in his career. All that is left for him is to win more titles.

In his last game against the OKC Thunder, James became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer by surpassing the points total left by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It’s one of the greatest records in NBA history, and James will get to further build it up over the next few years of his career.

Every athlete begins as a kid with a dream, and LBJ is no different. In a ceremony honoring him before the Lakers game against the Bucks, James shouted out 4 of his idols growing up, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and Allen Iverson.

"I didn't allow those moments to deter me from my dreams."

“I had dreams of one day being able to throw no-look passes like Magic Johnson. To be able to shoot fadeaway like Michael Jordan, to be able to cross someone over like Allen Iverson, to have an afro and jump in a dunk contest like Kobe Bryant. I looked up to so many athletes and people on my journey. they gave me inspiration and they allowed my dreams to not die.”

The inspiration that LBJ has taken from all 4 players is clearly visible in the way he’s designed his game. The Kobe and MJ influence shone brightest as LeBron hit a deep fadeaway to score the points that helped him cross Kareem’s scoring record.

More Championships To Come?

Most all-time greats have been champions at multiple stages of their career. LeBron is no different, as he has won 4 championships in his career. Even though he may have been the influence behind the superteam era, LeBron is the only player that can say he has delivered a title at every single stop in his career. He’s won a title for the Lakers already, but can he win another?

Kobe and Magic both won 5 titles, while Jordan won 6, so there’s definitely more for LBJ to look forward to with his 4 titles currently. Given his modern-day rival, Stephen Curry has tied LBJ with 4 championships, LeBron can further build his case for GOAT if he can win another title. If he manages to tie Jordan, the conversation may shift for good.
