LeBron James is finally sitting atop the NBA’s scoring charts as the unquestioned leader in points over the 76 years history of the league. Knowing how LeBron has been playing in recent years, he is going to add more points to his tally and might even make it out of reach for future generations.

It’s one of the greatest records in sports, as even the most casual fan will know LeBron James as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history.

The Lakers honored LeBron with a ceremony prior to their game against the Milwaukee Bucks, for which LeBron had already been ruled out. He gave a stirring speech telling his story and honoring the legends that made it possible for him to dream and achieve what he did.

“Growing up in the small town of Akron, Ohio. As an underprivileged single-parent household, only child, you feel like you’ll never make it out. You feel like the statistics are built up against you to not succeed. You feel like you’ll never have an opportunity for your dreams to become reality. I didn’t allow those moments to deter me from my dreams, I had dreams every day of playing in the NBA. I had dreams every day of being an inspiration to people, I had dreams of one day being able to throw no-look passes like Magic Johnson. To be able to shoot fadeaway like Michael Jordan, to be able to cross someone over like Allen Iverson, to have an afro and jump in a dunk contest like Kobe Bryant. I looked up to so many athletes and people on my journey. they gave me inspiration and they allowed my dreams to not die.”

This will go down in history as one of the greatest achievements of LBJ’s career and an achievement that many use to put him ahead of Michael Jordan. Whether or not that is a fair opinion to have, it is unquestionable that LeBron having a 20-year prime with the achievements he’s racked up deserves to be talked about like this.

What’s Next For LeBron James?

The excuse many fans have had on LeBron’s behalf to explain his lack of success with the Lakers finally was removed when the team finally got a competent supporting cast around LBJ at the trade deadline. The Lakers have added 5 new rotational players in the last month and will hope to rise up to the playoffs as soon as possible.

The only accomplishment that James can further add to his career at this point is a championship. The Lakers don’t look like a championship-level squad, so that dream may be put off until he can leave LA in 2024 for a possible final stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. We’ll wait and see
