Lonzo Ball was once looked at as one of the most promising point guards in the league. But since joining the Chicago Bulls, Ball’s career has been plagued with injuries.
NBA analyst Shams Charania recently broke the news about Ball getting a third surgery on his left knee. It will be a cartilage transplant surgery that will keep him out of action for most, if not the entire 2023-24 NBA season. Daniel Greenberg recently revealed if Ball can return to playing basketball after getting the surgery, he would become the first-ever in NBA history to do so.

Ball is getting similar treatment to what ex-NBA player Jason Richardson got after getting injured in 2013. Richardson explained the process to SB Nation, as it was a relatively new treatment back in the day.
“Going to several doctors to see what was the best procedure to have, I decided to go with a fairly new procedure called Denovo surgery. It’s a surgery where they take juvenile cartilage and implant it back into my knee where the cartilage damage occur.”
Richardson didn’t return to the court until 2015, and even then, he played just 19 games for the Philadelphia 76ers before announcing his retirement from the NBA.
Many fear that Lonzo Ball is heading towards the same path and the Bulls’ point guard’s NBA career is in jeopardy.
Brandon Jennings And Others React To Lonzo Ball’s Injury News
Lonzo Ball is still just 25 years old, and his best playing days are still ahead of him. However, the severity of his injury can be gauged by the fact that Ball is yet to play a game since January 2022, when he first injured his knee.
Since then, Ball has already gotten two surgeries, but they haven’t helped him in getting any better. With the news of the third surgery, former NBA player Brandon Jennings and many others shared their concerns about Ball’s career being in danger.

Most fans had nothing but prayers for the Chicago Bulls guard. Lonzo was just entering the prime of his career and was starting to make a name for himself as a quality guard in the league.
However, the odds of Ball returning back to his level before the injury are very low, and it’s certainly concerning news for him and his fanbase. But we at Fadeaway World wish him a healthy and speedy recovery. We hope to see him playing the game of basketball as soon as possible.
