As LeBron James continues to dominate on the court in his 21st season in the league, former NBA player Lou Williams has hailed him as the GOAT.

“The greatest of all time, give him his flowers,” Williams said. “I’ve said it. I’m standing on it.

(starts at 0:29 mark):

Chandler Parsons agreed with Williams and it is incredible what James is doing at this stage of his career. Their comments came on the back of the 38-year-old finishing with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in a 130-125 win in overtime against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

In this 2023-24 campaign, he is now averaging 24.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game for the Los Angeles Lakers, which is remarkable. As Williams says, you have to give him his flowers at this point. The longevity is ridiculous and he is going to set statistical marks that will be well beyond reach for anybody.

He is already the all-time leading scorer and combine that with a resume that includes 4 championships, 4 Finals MVPs, and 4 MVPs, and you get a pretty strong argument to be regarded as the greatest. He has time to add to it as well, and his resume is going to be incredible by the time he walks away from the game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Also Picked LeBron James As The GOAT

It’s not just some recently retired players like Williams and Parsons who are giving James his flowers. Giannis Antetokounmpo also picked LeBron as the GOAT over Michael Jordan, and he too marveled at the fact that he is still going strong.

Antetokounmpo also praised James for setting the blueprint for the modern player. He commended him for never getting into trouble despite being in the spotlight for all these years and for raising his kids the right way.

Giannis wants to follow in LeBron’s footsteps and to be fair, he has done a good job of it so far. There are no off-the-field issues of any kind when it comes to him and he seems to be raising a wonderful family as well.

LeBron James Revealed The Other Sport He Could Have Been The GOAT In

While some players may shy away from anointing themselves as the greatest ever, James is not one of them. Especially after he broke the all-time scoring record earlier this year, he has made it pretty clear that he believes he is the GOAT when it comes to basketball.

But, what if he had never played basketball? Could he have been the greatest at some other sport? Well, James believes he’d have been the GOAT of Lacrosse if he wasn’t the best at basketball.

“If I wasn’t the GOAT in basketball, what other sport I would be the GOAT in? Lacrosse. And I’d be a beast out on the field… I got pretty good accuracy when it comes to things.”

Lacrosse certainly wouldn’t have been the sport that I’d have thought of. You’d have assumed he might go with football, considering how clips of James playing football in high school show he had some talent for the sport. Had he pursued it, he might have turned out to be a pretty good player, but we’ll never know.
