Superstar LeBron James has had arguably the best career in NBA history and is still dominant going into his 21st season in the league. Many people believe that he is the GOAT of basketball, especially after he became the all-time leading scorer for the regular season last year with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even though James has clearly been successful at basketball, it is quite possible he would have been elite at other sports as well. Recently, James claimed that he’d be the GOAT of lacrosse if he pursued it.
“If I wasn’t the GOAT in basketball, what other sport I would be the GOAT in? Lacrosse. And I’d be a beast out on the field… I got pretty good accuracy when it comes to things.”

There is no doubt that some of James’ strengths in basketball could have translated to lacrosse. His athleticism could have certainly helped him in the sport, and as he mentions he has good enough aim to be good at scoring in lacrosse as well.
With that being said, the sport that James is best at is clearly basketball. He is still elite right now, and James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game for the Lakers last season. Hopefully, he will continue to dominate next season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
LeBron James Also Played Football In High School
James was clearly gifted in multiple sports, and in high school, he played American Football. Previously it was revealed that the reason James pursued football was because of singer Aaliyah.
“You know why he played football? Because of Aaliyah. He was going to stop playing after his sophomore year, but then Aaliyah, one of his favorite singers, died in a plane crash. He decided he wasn’t going to live life being afraid. Aaliyah’s passing made him come off the sidelines. He skipped the start of his junior year, missed the first game of the year, and joined in the second game with no practice or training camp. He played 12 games, ran 1200 yards, and had 11 touchdowns. He was one of the great wide receivers in the history of the school.”
It is quite likely that James would have been successful as a football player as well. However, it is unclear what level of success he would have had, and ultimately, deciding to follow through with basketball was the best decision for James.
LeBron James Can Still Add To His Legacy With The Lakers
Even though James is considered by many to already be the greatest player to ever play basketball, he can still add more accolades to his legacy this season. Adding another championship or two would boost his legacy even further.
This year, the Lakers are likely to be a contending team, as they have surrounded James and Anthony Davis with elite role players who fit well around. They have the talent to be a very successful team, but the key will be all their players finding a way to mesh with one another.
Hopefully, we do see the Lakers find success next season. They will need a big year from James to win at the highest level, and even if he may not be the best player on the Lakers, he can still help them win a championship.
