The 2022-23 NBA season has been full of ups and downs for the Dallas Mavericks. There are games where they look like an excellent team, and on some days, the team looks simply out of sync. It is evident from the fact that the Mavericks currently have a 14-13 record, despite Luka Doncic having an MVP-caliber season.
The Dallas Mavericks managed to snap out of their 2-game losing streak after a good win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was none other than Luka Doncic who led the team to the victory. Doncic had 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in the 121-114 win over the Thunder.
While the Mavs fans will be happy to see their team win the game, one incident during the game left everyone puzzled, including Luka Doncic. During a play during the third quarter, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander managed to get an and-1 against Dwight Powell. Doncic was frustrated with his teammate and proceeded to yell at him. The referee shockingly called a technical foul on Luka for his actions.
Luka was obviously unhappy with the call, and it was just yet another example of how the level of refereeing in the NBA has gone down.
Will Luka Doncic Leave The Dallas Mavericks?
The Dallas Mavericks hit the lottery when they traded for Luka Doncic during the 2018 NBA Draft. Since then, Doncic has only gotten better and is now considered one of the top candidates to win the regular season MVP award.
But that won’t be possible if the Mavericks barely manage to qualify for the playoffs. Of course, they can make a few trades this season to get Doncic some help and improve their chances of potentially having a deep playoffs run.
However, in case the Mavericks fail to do so, NBA insider Tim MacMahon believes the Mavericks only have a two-year window before Luka decides to leave the team and take his talents elsewhere.
