Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are now among the best duos in the Western Conference as of right now, and their offensive potential is downright scary. There’s no doubt that they have the ability to win a championship, based on the talent of both players. The Dallas Mavericks moved Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and a future first-round pick for Kyrie Irving, and it is clear that they believe in what he is able to bring to the squad.

Recently, we saw Luka Doncic open up about what it was like to play his first game with Kyrie Irving. He claimed that he was excited to suit up with Irving, adding that the point guard is an “amazing player”.

“I was just excited to play with him. He’s an amazing player… It was really fun too.

There is no doubt that the duo will likely play better with more time together. It will be interesting to see how their partnership will develop. Their games in theory are solid fits for one another, and having two offensive engines that can carry a team is going to benefit the Mavericks greatly for the rest of the season.

Some Believe Kyrie Irving Could Cause Luka Doncic To Leave The Mavericks

Though this move was clearly fantastic from a basketball perspective, there are some people who are unsure about Kyrie Irving on the Dallas Mavericks. Previously, a report revealed that a number of executives believe that Kyrie Irving could cause Luka Doncic to leave the Mavericks in the future.

Even before this trade happened, execs I talked to on my road trip this past week, who were given anonymity so they could speak freely, were openly wondering if adding Irving could create a last-straw type situation that ends up pushing Doncic to seek the exits … much as happened with James Harden in Brooklyn.

It is unclear if this will actually come to pass. Kyrie Irving will be a free agent at the end of the season, and if he doesn’t do well next to Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks can simply move on from him.

The Dallas Mavericks will definitely have to be at their best to beat the other heavyweights in the Western Conference. With Kevin Durant moving to the Phoenix Suns, there is a new powerhouse in the Western Conference. Even Luka Doncic has admitted that the Phoenix Suns should be considered the favorite as of right now.

With that being said, the Dallas Mavericks will have an opportunity to beat any team in any given game due to the presence of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the roster. Their ceiling is extremely high, and hopefully, they do well in the playoffs this year.
