Marcus Morris On The Clippers Losing To The Nuggets In The Bubble: “At The End Of The Day, That Team Wasn’t Better Than Us.”

2 Min Read

Marcus Morris has taken a shot at the Denver Nuggets, the team that eliminated him and the Los Angeles Clippers during the bubble, returning from a 3-1 deficit in the second round of the playoffs. The Nuggets showed their heart and never stopped fighting, return from big deficits in Games 5 and 6 of the series, ultimately forcing Game 7 and winning against the Clips.

That was a huge collapsed and it earned a lot of jokes for the Clippers, who are ready to bounce back this year and demonstrate that was only a fluke. Morris, who recently agreed to a 4-year, $64 million with the team, has reflected on that loss, claiming that the Clippers were always the better team.

“It hurt being up 3-1,” Morris said, via Sports Illustrated. “It’s not about losing, it’s about how we lost. I think that’s the biggest motivation for this team.”

He is convinced that his team was the better one and things just didn’t go well for them, instead of admitting the Nuggets did a good job against them.

“At the end of the day, that team wasn’t better than us,” Morris said. “We all knew that.”

“To be up and to lose, that put an extra sting in our mentalities, so now we got something to go out and prove,” Morris said. “I think for the team, I think that’s gonna be big for us.”

He’s ready to demonstrate that last season was just a bad streak and nothing else. Morris knows they need to do something big if they want to end the talk about them and their fiasco. The Lakers are entering a season with fresh and renovated hopes, with some changes on the roster and the coaching staff, but the same goal: winning the NBA championship.
