• Fans have joked about them switching places with one another for years

• The twins revealed that they have actually done that before

The Morris brothers have been two of the most entertaining players of the last decade. They were drafted one pick apart in the 2011 NBA Draft and both are still contributors in the league. People have often wondered if they would switch with each other during NBA games as a joke, but the twins confirmed they have done that in real life before on All The Smoke.

“It’s got to be in life but it ain’t appropriate for the cameras.”

They admitted they used to switch places when they were in school while vehemently denying that they’ve ever pulled that trick in the NBA.

The insinuation seemed a little suspicious, which is why they didn’t delve into it either.

Impersonation can be a crime under various different situations, so it’s best that they didn’t elucidate on what they did. As long as they didn’t do it for an NBA game, it’s likely no one will care enough to investigate.

The Morris Brothers In The Midst Of A Team Rivalry

The Morris brothers are one of the most close-knit pairs of twins we have ever seen. They even have the same tattoos across the body to go with their identical voice and hairstyle. It’s plausible that they could switch places in many situations in life, but switching places in an NBA game is too far, especially given where they play now.

Markieff Morris ended the season with the Dallas Mavericks, joining the franchise in the Kyrie Irving trade. Marc Stein reported that the Mavs wanted to bring ‘Kief back to the team with their last roster spot, but nothing official has been signed yet. He averaged 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8 games in Dallas last season.

Marcus Morris is still with the Clippers, a franchise that had a rivalry with the Mavs for two postseasons in a row. The young Mavs’ were stopped from upsetting a loaded Clippers team in 2020 and 2021, with Morris beefing heavily with Luka Doncic. He’s not the same enforcer he was in those seasons, averaging 11.2 points and 4.0 rebounds last season, and has started falling in the rotation.

Twins In The NBA

The Morris brothers aren’t the first pair of twins in the NBA and they definitely aren’t the last pair. Up until now, only five pairs of twins have played in the NBA. The first came with Dick and Tom Van Arsdale, followed up by Horace and Harvey Grant. Jason and Jarron Collins made the league too before the two modern-day duos that are still in the league, Brook and Robin Lopez along with the Morris brothers.

We saw history be made with the first pair of twins being drafted in the top five of a draft in 2023, as Amen and Ausar Thompson went No. 4 and No. 5 in the 2023 Draft. They’ll become the sixth pair of twins to play in the NBA once they make their regular season debut for the Rockets and Pistons respectively.
