The Memphis Grizzlies are getting ready to start the 2023 NBA playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference for the second straight season.

Things appear to be going great for them despite all the controversies they had with Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant. However, they won’t have one of their veterans, who will miss the postseason.

“Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams is likely to miss the postseason with his injured right knee, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.”

Tim MacMahon reports that Adams was expected to miss three to five weeks after spraining his posterior cruciate ligament in January. This was already difficult for the Grizzlies but now things have gotten worse.

They have recorded a terrific season, only trailing the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference standings. However, now things can be a little more difficult for them without Adams on the court.

Now it’s time for a young player to prove his worth with the Grizzlies this season. Adams will surely be supporting his team, but they still need a big presence at the paint.

Memphis Grizzlies Call Kenneth Lofton Jr. From G League

This is why they’re calling Kenneth Lofton Jr. from the G League. The internet sensation has had a terrific tenure in the development league, putting up some good numbers and showing that he can be impactful in the big leagues.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Grizzlies are giving him a standard contract in the wake of Adams’ injury.

“To fortify the frontline now, the Grizzlies are signing two-way rookie forward Kenneth Lofton Jr., on a four-year, $7M contract, his agent Mike George tells ESPN. Lofton was the G League’s Rookie of the Year.”

In 17 games, Lofton posted 22.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game, becoming the Rookie of the Year in the G League.
