The Milwaukee Bucks surprisingly lost against the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs, and their season is over after they finished as the best team in the league.

After the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo went off on reporters as he believes that this season wasn’t a failure, using Michael Jordan as an example. But his head coach Mike Budenholzer has a different opinion about it.

“I respect the question. I understand the question. This team has incredibly high expectations,” Budenholzer said. “We’re disappointed. We’re frustrated. It hurts. But I said it all year, we love this team. We love these guys. I believe in them. We believe in them. We didn’t get it done tonight. But to me, just disappointed, hurt, frustrated, I think is more characteristic of how we feel about tonight.”

Being the number-one seed in the Eastern Conference and having a league-best 58-24 record, fans had huge expectations from the Bucks. They were expected to make a deep run in the postseason.

However, their journey in the playoffs was over in just five games. Sure, Giannis’ injury in Game 1 of the series played a role in it, the Bucks’ season was certainly disappointing.

The Milwaukee Bucks Have A Long Offseason Ahead Of Themselves

Giannis Antetokounmpo is undoubtedly the superstar of the Milwaukee Bucks, and the team relies heavily on him to win games.

But apart from Giannis, the Bucks also have the likes of Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday on the roster. The two supporting stars failed to live up to expectations this season.

It could be the last time when fans saw the trio play together for the Bucks, as there were rumors about Middleton opting out of his current deal and leaving the team this offseason.

Over the last year or so, Middleton has played like a shell of himself. He has constantly dealt with injuries and is no longer playing at an NBA All-Star level. Keeping that in mind, the Bucks may try to trade him this summer.
